Title Interior Designer

We are seeking an Interior Designer who is looking to challenge themselves as part of a team in a highly intense, fast-paced hotel design firm. This role will act as integral member of the team and the right candidate will have a high level of integrity and is highly motivated. All of our Designers represent the firm and team in a positive, enthusiastic manner.

In this position, you will be able to pull appropriate concept packages of color and materials for interior architecture, FF&E and materials. In addition you will know how to develop a set of documents from concept to completion including layouts and interior architecture. You must have a thorough understanding of construction methods and produce high quality millwork and cabinet sections and details. You will have expert knowledge of finishes and fabrication installation methods. You will be ready to aid in producing CD and specifications packages and budgets; custom furniture drawings, custom lighting, custom carpets and fabric, elevations, RCP and details.

The perfect candidate will possess well developed visualization skills and able to convey intent of ideas easily and quickly, both verbally and visually; know what is “hot” internationally and constantly follows the trades looking for emerging trends and fresh ideas; works quickly, effectively and within project timelines; enjoys and works well in a team setting, keeping team informed of new ideas, inspirations, conduct roundtable discussions of ideas with the team, and build consensus for final implementation. This person will be a multi-tasker and act with a professional level of conduct and behavior at all times as this position interfaces with clients and vendors. You will be able to skillfully negotiate around roadblocks and obstacles to follow through and complete tasks on schedule and within budgeted hours and maintaining a billable hour level on a weekly basis.

Those in a senior position may also:
Manage the team’s junior staff and ensure questions are answered and that issues are addressed.
Review and check documents produced by juniors for content and accuracy.
Participate in daily review of junior timesheets to make sure time is entered correctly and deliverables match time allotted.
Monitor all project activity to ensure project is tracking the plan.
Acting as Project Manager, accurately make aware to all team members all project related issues, staff performance, and client/stakeholder requests.

The qualified candidate will have:
a minimum 4 year degree from a school of Interior Design or Architecture (Bachelors)
at least 5 years of experience in a Design/Architecture firm
a strong portfolio of work demonstrating creative spatial design concepts
a solid understanding of construction methods; millwork sections design and detailing
had intense exposure to all phases of the design process
proven Project Management skills related to the organization of all interior CAD and specification documents
strong communication, listening and people skills; ability to organize and manage the Design team and effectively
communicate with Clients and consultants
a passion for creative design solutions and problem solving and a dedication to achieve great things in a team environment

Those candidates with the following highly preferred qualifications will have priority consideration:
2 years of hospitality design experience
AutoCAD proficiency
