A two-day seminar on 17th- and 18th-century urban middle-class homes,exploring the domestic architecture, decoration, furnishings and daily life of the 'middling sort' in London. Historians from a range of disciplines will deliver papers and case studies illuminating new ideas and research in this fascinating area which combines art, design, social and cultural history.
Speakers will include Philippa Glanville, silver expert and formerly Chief Curator of Metalwork at the V&A; Patrick Baty, historic paint expert; and furniture historian Dr Adam Bowett.
