Millennium and Copthorne Hotels announces the opening of its first property in Egypt, the Coral Beach Diving Hotel. The four-star property, managed by Millennium, is also the first resort to open in the Port Ghalib Marina, a new leisure tourism destination on the South Red Sea. Millennium will also manage the Millennium Hotel Doha in Qatar, which is scheduled to open in September 2006.
In July 2005, Millennium and Copthorne Hotels opened the Coral Beach Diving Hotel, the first resort in Egypt’s newest resort area, Port Ghalib. Located only minutes from the new Marsa Alam International Airport, the resort features 206 rooms and suites (120 currently open, with another 86 expected in October), a main buffet restaurant called Indigo, Shark Bites poolside snack bar, two bars called “50” and “Viz,” 24-hour room service, two large swimming pools on two levels, a gymnasium, children’s pool and Kids Club.
Situated on the promenade of the Port Ghalib International Marina, the resort is ideal for scuba divers and snorkelers, offering its own PADI-registered on-site dive school, underground classroom with observation windows, dive boats, equipment and a dive shop. There is also a specialized diving pool for instruction in three-meter diving.
The accommodations include twin rooms, family suites, junior suites and king suites. Each guest room features fully adjustable air-conditioning, private bath and shower, a private balcony or patio with garden or sea views, satellite TV in several languages, direct dial telephone and amenities such as in-room safes, mini-bars and hairdryers.
The Port Ghalib area represents a new stylish choice among international tourism destinations in the Middle East. With mild weather year-round and proximity to both Luxor and Aswan, this new community of hotels, residential properties, entertainment and shopping offers an ideal mix of sun, sea and Egypt’s famous antiquities.
The Coral Beach Diving Hotel joins Millennium’s collection of over 90 global properties which include the landmark Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles and the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City. A luxury hotel and residential project in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, is also in the works and is set to become Millennium’s second venture in the country.
