Hotels: InterContinental Latin America Opens New Hotel

InterContinental Hotels Group continues its aggressive expansion with the opening of the 65-room, 15-story Holiday Inn Express Avenida Sumaré-Sao Paulo in Brazil. The opening of this hotel marks IHG’s 28th Holiday Inn in Latin America and IHG’s 15th property in Brazil. With the addition of Sao Paulo’s first Holiday Inn Express hotel, the InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio in Sao Paulo is now represented by five of its brands.

The hotel’s guestrooms feature large TVs, wireless Internet access, dual-line telephones with voice mail, coffeemakers, mini-bars, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards and in-room safes. The hotel’s amenities also include a convenience store, a business center, a fitness facility and three meeting rooms with the capacity to host up to 140 people.

Today the great city of Sao Paulo is home to IHG’s InterContinental Sao Paulo, Crowne Plaza Sao Paulo, Holiday Inn Parque Anhembi, Holiday Inn Express Ave. Sumaré and Staybridge Suites Century Plaza properties. The Holiday Inn Express Ave. Sumaré – Sao Paulo is the 28th Holiday Inn property to open in Latin America, a number that virtually has tripled in the past four years.

“With five of our brands in the city, we have been able to solidify our presence in Sao Paulo,” said Alvaro Diago, area president, InterContinental Hotels Group Latin America. “We are extremely grateful to all our guests, the city officials, developers, architects, owners, hotel managers and so many other entities from the region. It is because of their support that our expansion has been so successful to date. Today, Sao Paulo is the first city in Latin America to host this many IHG brands.”

IHG has been serving Latin America for almost 60 years—with hotels situated in nearly every key market in Central and South America. IHG is considered one of the leading hotel companies in the region.
