Industry: BCFA Gets new leader

After a successful period under the leadership of Tony Attard of Panaz, the BCFA has a new Chairman from 1st January. Previously Vice-Chairman, Carolyn Mitchell of Walker Greenbank takes up the load with a real sense of mission.

The BCFA is the professional body representing the interests and views of some 400 member companies, all of whom manufacture or supply goods and services to the non-domestic interiors market. As Group Contract Sales Director of Walker Greenbank, and BCFA Board member for the last four years, Carolyn Mitchell is already a familiar figure to many, both within the association and in the wider contract furnishings arena.

Having trained originally as a textile designer, Carolyn has spent the last 16 years working within the contract interiors sector: previously Managing Director for Creation Baumann UK, she joined Walker Greenbank plc last year to head up the group’s contracts division for fabric brands Zoffany, Sanderson, Harlequin and Harris. Of her new role with the BCFA she speaks passionately about the association’s determination to represent every sector of what is a highly diverse industry. “We care deeply about both the heritage and the future of this buoyant sector, “she reflects. “So let us work together, fulfilling our collective duty to ensure that the British contract furnishing industry continues to lead the world.”

New Vice Chairman is the MD of Morgan Furniture, Rodney McMahon, who was also previously a Director or the BCFA.
