Forbes Furniture, a division of the international Snap-Drape Group has scored a major success with its lightweight Alu-Lite conference and banqueting tables. The Rome Marriott will open the largest Convention Hotel in Europe at the end of July. It will have the capacity to seat 7000 people for a banquet using 1740 Forbes tables - enough to stretch the length of London's Oxford Street.

Alu-Lite's UK-manufactured aluminium frame and laminate top, combined with its patented spring-loaded leg mechanism make it a unique product. 'We were awarded this order against international competition,' said Forbes' MD Peter Graville. 'It is the product's lightweight but robust construction, developed with feedback from Food & Beverage Managers, which has proved successful.'
In addition to Forbes' tables, Snap-Drape is manufacturing 1000 fitted conference covers and 2000 chair covers for the Rome contract. The Snap-Drape Group dispatches its UK-manufactured products around the world, from Senegal to St Petersburg and Tahiti to Budapest. This year the company expects to export 70% of its production to more than 30 countries.
