Pompom is the result of a new and exciting collaboration with the talented designer Maggie Levien. Her distinctive style leads Sanderson in a new direction, with this contemporary print and wallpaper collection drawing its inspiration from natural forms and Eastern imagery, capturing the essence of the Orient’s elegance and grace.
“Inspired by both the simplicity and graphic nature of Japanese design and the bold shapes of oriental flowers, as well as the softer, lived-in feel of worn archival fabrics, this collection is a bold fusion of these different styles. Pompom is a fresh perspective on the trend for Oriental design that is still so strong in both the fashion and interior design scene.” Maggie Levien
With this collection, Sanderson retains its long standing identity through the use of floral motifs such as chrysanthemums and peonies. Yet through a mix of bold stylisation, daring colour combinations and enhanced scale, it shows a contemporary mood that moves Sanderson into modern interiors.
Pompom Wallpapers
The six complementary wallpapers come in a range of versatile colourways including timeless and usable neutrals, as well as strong statement shades making these papers the focal point of any living area. The wallpapers have been given a glamorous twist through the use of pearlescent and metallic finishes.
The designs Pompom, Lilia, Taisho, Suzu and Kasuri are similar in scale and layout to the prints and have been coloured to work beautifully both with them, and in their own right. Obi has been reworked, taking an element from the Obi fabric motif, and developed into a wonderful all-over design using highlights of metallic and pearlescent inks to add dramatic effect.
Pompom Prints
The collection consists of six stylised, printed fabrics designed to be used in either a traditional home or a contemporary living space. The designs come in a spectrum of sophisticated and unusual colour combinations and are printed onto crisp linen and linen unions.
The six designs include the lead design, Pompom, a softly textured chrysanthemum trail, Obi, which features circular floral motifs inspired by the floating roundel patterns found on street-wear kimonos, Lilia, an elegant, large-scale design of tall stemmed allium plants, Taisho, a graphic silhouette of trailing peonies, Suzu, an elegantly exotic design, and Kasuri, a modern, single colour design inspired by the simple, woven patterns of Japanese Kasuri cloth.
