Philip Cowan Interiors have been working on the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate for
Ramparts (designed by Mike Watson) as the curtains/soft furnishing contractor.
The old snooker rooms have been transformed into a conference / function room and Philip Cowan's have made, supplied and installed several sets of sheers, curtains and hard pelmets, the longest was 8metres round the bay; that would have taken some sewing! They also went on to install blackout casement roller blinds inside each window recess to provide full blackout for presentation purposes.
According to a spokesperson at the hotel,
'the area used to be sub divided into two offices, an actual snooker room with one full size table and a small meeting room which was called the committee room and had the ornate wooden fireplace with a real fire. The fireplace (shown above) now presides over the opened up area whose dimensions return to their original ones.
When the hotel was built in 1900, this area was a large snooker room with 4 full size tables, nestled behind the gentleman’s smoking room which is now the Regency Bar.
The room is now called The Billiard Room and is a wonderful private room, packed full of large windows on 3 sides and ideal for a drinks reception, buffet meal or meeting.'
Other new additions to the hotel are the luxurious Orchid Rooms, and a brand new state-of-the-art beauty centre. The Orchid Rooms offer top-to-toe treatments for men and women using the renowned Elemis product range.
