Hotel Design: Newly rebuilt Le Richemond Geneva re-opens

Geneva’s legendary Le Richemond has re-opened this month following an 18-month renovation overseen by international interior designer John Stefanidis and the Rocco Forte Collection's Director of Design, Olga Polizzi. Le Richemond is the first hotel in which Stefanidis has been instrumental in creating the look of every single room.

One of the most prestigious hotels in Geneva, Le Richemond has this month unveiled its new look, with beautiful views of the Alps across Lake Geneva, boasting 109 spacious new bedrooms, three conference rooms and new pool. Olga Polizzi, design director of Rocco Forte Hotels, continued her policy of working in partnership with experienced designers in creation of the new look throughout the hotel.

“I like working with good outside designers. I always learn something new and they bring in a different look and feel as well as new ideas. Though John Stefanidis has designed hotel suites in the past, we wanted to give him the opportunity to style an entire hotel. The result is quite stunning and very different from any of our properties, but in keeping with our philosophy it reflects its location." said Olga Polizzi

Working with a blank canvas, the design team have created schemes by combining colourful, contemporary fabrics with furniture, scagliola and atmospheric lighting to create a modern, beautifully designed luxury hotel with its own individual personality. The standard rooms and junior suites feature wood panelling and soft fabrics with clean, simple and luxurious bathrooms using streaked marble. The public areas are light and inviting, using a strong Art Deco influence to ensure a glamorous, contemporary twist in the Shelley Bar and meeting area whilst retaining its own spirit.

Following the renovation, Le Richemond now has:
• 109 spacious bedrooms including 29 suites
• 230sqm royal suite, The Armleder Suite, with two terraces offering panoramic views of the Alps, the Jura mountains, Lake Geneva and the Old Town
• Work stations and state-of-the-art technology in all rooms and suites.
For business events, there will be:
• 3 meeting rooms and a ballroom, with natural daylight and state-of-the-art technology in all four rooms.
For pure relaxation, a stunning new spa facility has been created that includes:
• 4 individual treatment rooms and 1 double treatment room
• Sauna
• Turkish steam room
• State-of-the-art fitness centre
• Relaxation area
