Cousine Island is a jewel in the Indian Ocean and despite enjoying a reputation as one of the world’s most pristine nature islands, a number of sensitive enhancements will be made during 2008.
NB: Not currently refurbished
Comfort, relaxation and getting up close to nature have always been the hallmarks of a stay on Cousine Island. With the minimum disruption and without closing the island, guests will be able to enjoy improvements to both the interiors of their villas as well as the outside areas designated for sun worshippers.
Each of the four guest villas will be freshened up with all soft furnishings upgraded and a complete change to the kitchenette and bathroom replacing the light wood fittings with more appropriate local hard wood. Upgraded electronics will include new large flat screen TVs, DVD players, surround sound systems and new ipod docking systems with ipods for guests use if they don’t have their own. Wireless internet access will be extended to all villas.
New sundecks will be constructed in the gardens of each villa overlooking the ocean and adjoining a small bridge which leads directly onto the beach. A spacious deck is also being added to the fresh water swimming pool together with new pool furniture and sun loungers – ideal for those wanting to swap the privacy of their villa for lounging by the pool or sipping drinks in the shade of the Pavillion.
For staff, there are also some welcome improvements. The chefs will enjoy a bigger kitchen with more storage to ensure all their ingredients remain fresh for the mouth-watering array of delicacies they prepare every day. The current manager’s office is being turned into a small boutique and gift shop to allow guests to take away a souvenir of their stay.
