The third Valley Wing extension in the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts group opened today at 11.18 (local time) at the Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao. Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Valley Wing at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, the new tower is designed to create an address that exudes luxury and exclusivity. The Valley Wing also features the city’s largest guestrooms at 54 square metres.
All Valley Wing guests arrive at a separate lobby entrance and automatically receive in-room check-in, pressing of one suit and shoeshine on arrival, exclusive use of the Valley Wing lounge for breakfast, all refreshments and cocktails, including free flowing champagne. Business facilities such as meeting rooms and computers are also available for Valley Wing guests in the lounge.
Located in a 20-storey modern glass tower, the USD62 million expansion adds 196 guestrooms increasing the hotel’s total room count to 696, 13 serviced apartments, the city’s largest ballroom, two restaurants, a health club and spa facilities.
Café Yum is an all-day restaurant serving an extensive international buffet through interactive, theatre-like open kitchens. The Da Vinci restaurant and lounge, opening in April, offers authentic Italian cuisine prepared by a native Italian chef and serves a broad selection of old and new world wines.
The impressive high-ceiling and pillarless China Hall has a capacity of 2,000 people and is the largest ballroom in the city. Elegantly decorated and offering the latest in audio-visual technology, it is the ideal venue for hosting high profile events and celebrating grand occasions. With direct access via a large lift, it is even possible to drive a car into the China Hall for exhibits.
For relaxation, the new health club, opening in April, provides a fully equipped gym with views of the city, a 25-metre heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna and steam room. A spa with 10 private treatment rooms will open in May.
