This superb period mahogany bar was recently acquired by the Andy Thornton team after the closure of a large hotel in North London. Although altered at stages to accommodate modernisation within the hotel, the bar remains largely in its unchanged state, retaining all its original charm.
Dating from around 1920, the magnificent piece stretches to an impressive sweeping width of 8790 mm, at a height of 3325 mm. The back bar is divided into elaborate arches by carved corbels, each archway containing feature brilliant cut and acid etched glass mirrors, capturing and reflecting light to contrast with the lustrous dark mahogany housing. The bar front features attractive panelled sections divided by fluted columns with a central curved panel mirroring the curved shape of the back bar.
The Andy Thornton reclamation team are expecting the magnificent statement piece to be snapped up by an upmarket hospitality venue creating a traditional or period interior.
Andy Thornton’s Victoria Mills showroom contains the world’s largest selection of original bar fittings, panelling, fireplaces, church antiques, furniture and lighting. For more information and to view current stock, visit our website through our page in the Directory.
