The
Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras, developed by Slovakia’s leading real estate company, J&T Real Estate, will open in late autumn 2008, more than a century after the opening of the original building. As the first international 5-star property in Slovakia, the lake-side resort will have 118 rooms, including five suites and two chalets, within existing 19th and 20th Century buildings with modern extensions. The resort is set in the picturesque village of Strbske Pleso, which has an excellent climate suited to the treatment of respiratory diseases. There will be one fine dining restaurant, a café, lobby bar and a boutique as well as meeting facilities. Due to its excellent location, near the top of the Tatras mountains, the resort features spectacular views over the highest peaks of the Tatras Mountain range. The main focus will be on sports (skiing in winter, hiking and cycling in summer) and health, with an extensive wellness centre offering a swimming pool, steam rooms, whirl-pools, gym, beauty treatments and aerobic classes.
Kempinski Hotel Adriatic Istria, expected to open in December, has been built in Alberi, on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, in the region of Istria. The region surrounding Alberi is distinguished by untouched landscapes and a stunning natural beauty. The whole resort is set on a gentle slope ending in a cliff overlooking the Bay of Trieste and neighbouring Slovenia, with 22 exclusive villas nearest to the sea. Set behind the villas will be the spacious grounds of the five star luxury hotel, which will be managed by Kempinski, and an 18-hole golf course. The resort will also offer guests the possibility to moor their yachts in the 35-berth private marina. The hotel will have 186 rooms and suites, designed in a contemporary style, as well as three elegant restaurants and three bars. Plans are also underway to create an extensive 3000 m2 spa area including indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a convention centre capable of accommodating up to 230 guests and a kids’ villa.
