Planning Approval Granted for new hotel in Islington, London

London is remarkably still developing bomb sites from WW2, despite reports years ago of the last being redeveloped, and despite the high price of development sites in the city. Latest to go to developers is a site in Parkfield Street in Islington,N1 to designs by architects EPR.

Described as a limited service hotel, and believed to be still under negotiation with an operator (one of four likely - Travelodge, Premier, Accor's Ibis brand or IHG's Holiday Inn Express)consent has been given for a six storey hotel with over 100 bedrooms which will finally repair the Parkfield streetscape. The design consists of the entrance and common areas at the street level with the bedrooms above. The last floor is set back to maintain the scale and massing of the existing street.

The contemporary elevation and treatment has full height windows to provide the maximum natural light to the bedrooms with vertical Cedar timber and render panels to reflect the character and scale of the existing domestic architecture.
