Working closely with Thompson Macleod Design Practice based in Scotland, Lano Flooring Solutions worked from a black and white interior sketch to produce potential designs that would blend with interior fixtures, furnishings and fabrics.

Ronnie Wilkie, Design Executive, picks up the story:

“With the exclusive nature of the centre, we had to create innovative designs that would work harmoniously with other specified surfaces and furnishings. We presented five complimentary designs, each following a very different path, that all utilised the same colour palette which we knew would work with the interior scheme.”

Given the prestigious nature of the venue that holds twice as many delegates as any other in the region and that is one of the largest of its type in Scotland, designs were produced in both large and small scales that would be made using the high quality Chlidema weaving technique. The result is a stunning, bespoke carpet that uses the varying designs to break down individual areas.

“Designers are as much problem solvers as they are creative individuals and this is perfectly shown at the conferencing facility in Ayr,” continues Ronnie. “With the large expanses and smaller areas presented by the facility we had to ensure our designs could seamlessly flow together, while still being distinct enough to breakdown areas as and when necessary.”

Constructed from 80% wool and 20% nylon, the bespoke carpet utilises Lano Flooring Solutions’ latest axminster technologies to ensure a high performance and highly durable carpet. The natural soil hiding ability of carpet will also help to ensure a long life and will also aid maintenance.

“The Princess Royal Conference, Banqueting and Exhibition Centre at Ayr Racecourse must always look its best while providing users with comfort and a welcoming aesthetic. With our custom Chlidema axminster, the facility is now resplendent in a unique carpet that not only looks stunning and provides underfoot comfort, but that will perform for years to come.”
