| Polish composer Chopin's musical notation is woven into the carpet pattern. |

The simplicity of the design carries through into the bedrooms and conference areas. The corridors with their stanzas of a Chopin Mazurka woven into the carpet, are warm in their colouring. The inevitable doors giving access to the services along the corridor have been cleverly turned into floor to ceiling picture frames. The 'musical' carpet panels help to break the long vistas inevitable in a corridor, whilst lighting and the use of timber also helps. Detailing is excellent with door thresholds and skirting, panels and carpets all harmonising well.

Inside the bedroom the strongly patterned carpets and use of lounger chairs strike a strong design note, yet the overall effect is of comfort. The use of light birch timber and large picture windows creates a feeling of spaciousness, and enable the enjoyment of a remarkable panorama of the historic city.
The bedroom furniture is well designed using contrasting veneers, with the unusual ‘armoire’ swivelling on large alloy brackets through 180 degrees with the minibars and TV being contained within it, as well as additional cupboard space. The armoire also has a vertically mounted tube light on the rear as the main light to the bedroom, working well and avoiding the necessity of wiring to a ceiling light, as is becoming the norm in hotels today (presumably because of the increasing use of poured concrete building structures). The desk is large enough to work comfortably on and has all the now usual internet links etc.
The bathrooms are beautifully and artfully detailed, with marble and tiling to a high standard. Nothing fussy, just good quality materials accurately fitted with real attention to detail, proving it is not the cost of a bathroom that makes it luxury but its detailing and efficiency. The grab handles in the bath for example are well placed, and the under floor heating is effective Personally I always miss the traditional English heated towel rail for the luxury of a hot towel after bathing, a joy it seems that Continental European bathrooms have yet to discover. Shower pressure is high enough to satisfy the most demanding US tourist, and the usual array of toiletries is neatly displayed in an unusual clear Perspex block holder – another example of how clear thinking and good detailing has dealt with an abiding irritant for the designer.
