Fortunately none of the problems is beyond the ability of an operator with such a proven grasp of design as Radisson SAS to solve, given the will. Their own consistency needs to be introduced in the bathrooms for example, where their recently introduced Perspex block for toiletries, seen in Denmark, Poland and Germany would help to lift the standards across the board and provide some consistency with the rest of the group.

The main restaurant is generous and works on a buffet principle, whilst there is a more sophisticated speciality restaurant for those who want to be waited on. The main restaurant spills out onto a terrace with views over the 18th hole of the golf course, and Hungarian wines feature on the wine list.

Entry to the hotel is again parallel to Fleesensee, with a drive up to the port cochere giving the hotel the opportunity to meet and greet guests as they do at Fleesensee, with a flourish and a smile. Standing on the plain the hotel is visible for a long way, and yet the tree planting ponds and paths about the grounds soften the location and provide pleasant walks around the small lakes that dot the grounds.

Reception has the trade mark separate desks that characterise Radisson SAS receptions and a guest entering the property can see through the building to the golf courses beyond. The amount of glazing makes for light and airy interiors, with large terraces giving views across the golf course in addition to the balconies that most bedrooms have. First impressions count here and the designer has taken some care to make sure the arriving guest has the right ones. With similar determination in resolving the initial teething troubles, management can make sure that they leave with them intact too, and ensure the success of another investment in Eastern Europe’s future.
